SUMMARY:Odysseus 2024
DESCRIPTION:ODYSSEUS workshops remain one of the leading scientific meetings that contribute greatly to the development of the Logistics and Freight Transportation field. ODYSSEUS 2024 will be the 9th edition in the series of ODYSSEUS meetings after Crete 2000\, Sicily 2003\, Altea 2006\, Çeşme 2009\, Mykonos 2012\, Ajaccio 2015\, Cagliari 2018 and Tangier 2021 (postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19 pandemics). \nThis international\, triennial workshop\, brings together researchers and practitioners of freight transportation and logistics to discuss recent experiences\, exchange ideas\, disseminate research results\, and present advanced applications and technologies. It is a high quality forum that exhibit the recent developments in the freight transportation and logistics field\, as well as its trends and advances in the theory\, practice and application of mathematical models\, methodologies and decision support systems. \nODYSSEUS 2024 will be held in Carmona (Spain)\, a beautiful small city that lies only 35 kilometers from Seville. Its origins go back to the Neolithic period\, with rich prehistoric sites having been found in the surrounding area. An Iberian town – one of its early governors was very actively involved in the Second Punic war (218-202 B.C.)\, it was intensively Romanized\, and the importance of Carmona was recognized when it was granted the privilege of minting its own coins. The Via Augusta road – which ran all the way from what is now Cadiz to Rome\, went through Carmona\, and various remains and a bridge with evident Roman  elements  have survived to this day. Nowadays\, the town still follows\, with only very minor variations\, the typical Roman urban layout.
